Hoakalei Resort
Inspired by the epic tale of Hiiaka's journey across the Ewa Plain to the legendary spring of Hoakalei, the emerging Hoakalei Resort is envisioned to feature a hotel, resort residences, a vibrant waterfront commercial district, and Ernie Els’ first signature golf course in Hawaii. Golfers started teeing up on the fairways and enjoying the 19th hole at Hoakalei in 2009.
An old Hawaiian legend recounts the tale of the fire goddess Pele’s favorite sister witnessing a mesmerizing image of herself in a tranquil spring called Hoakalei. Meaning “reflection of a lei,” this legendary spring on the Ewa Plain is the inspiration for a spectacular residential waterfront resort community.
Now under construction, The LineUp at Wai Kai is planned as an exciting social and recreational hub headlined by the Wai Kai Wave, Hawaii’s first deep-water standing surf wave, along with water-based activities on the adjacent 52-acre recreational lagoon, a restaurant, café and unique retail.
Residents and visitors alike will enjoy taking a casual stroll along the waterfront’s promenade, past the Kauhale Preserve and the wetlands, perhaps choosing to follow one of the trails that wind through Hoakalei or even the beach park next door. This vision for the future is slowly becoming a reality. As with all good things in life, Hoakalei is definitely worth the wait.
